Author's Note: This writing piece is on the book called Daemon Hall. My group and I had been reading this book and it's my second writing piece about the book and I have been trying to work on my voice. I hope you enjoy.

Haunted houses will give you the adrenalin and the fright to get yourself into an alert mood. They will often scare you in the most awkward and confusing ways possible. Sometimes it's a zombie or Freddy Krueger. Many haunted houses also have a theme to them. They can be mansions, manors,  barns, etc. Though all haunted houses are cool. There is one particular one very special. Some say its got a mind of its one while others believe its alive. Tourists come to see but are never to be heard of again. This haunted house is called, Daemon Hall.

Andrew Nance is a great horror writer that can bring shivers down your spine but at the same time make one twisted story. Unlike most authors, Nance uses multiple characters as the main character. Most authors will either write from third or first person view at the story. Nance uses a first a third person view to the story. His first person view is Wade but then switches back and forth from each character's story. Also, Nance has a confusing point on who's basically the main character. Usually stories have the first person perspective also be the main character. Wade in this story however, is said as many times as the other five kids and isn't really in control. You could say the main character is Ian because he is in charge of the five kids.  Then again the house is the one eating people so they both have a big part in this book. I thin what Andrew was going for was for the reader to decide who or what is the main person or thing in this book.

Ian Tremblin, is hosting non other than a writing contest for five kids. Even if this guy is a really great horror author I still wouldn't want to sit alone in a house with kids I don't even know. But to top off this whole mess, the house is haunted. You may think ghosts are just a myth, but this house literally feeds on people. They'll be there one a second and then vanish, your best friend has just been eaten by a house. What a story to tell your grandchildren. These five kids really had it in them to find out what the truth is behind the house. Chris was one of the five children that went to the bathroom but was found by Wade getting sucked down the sink. Then Kara was dragged into a room with some monster type thing. The last three kids were trying to escape but it was no use. The house made them stay until they finished what they started. The last three kids are in the same situation as 8 year olds are at the table. They can't leave until they finish their food.

"Mom can I leave yet?"

"Not until you finish your vegetables."

"Look there all gone."

"There under your napkin, stop playing games and eat them. Kids in Africa would die to eat food as good as yours."

"Fine."   It's the exact same thing.

The last three kids still have to finish their stories made off the top of their head. As there all scared out of their minds they need to watch out for anything that might get them. For anything Ian Tremblin might be one of their biggest fears. I would be scared too if I was locked in a house with three random kids and a creeper. If I was one of them I would finish up the story and blow out the last few candles and get the heck out. I wouldn't want to get eaten alive by a house of wood and nails. Because Daemon Hall takes haunted houses to the next level.

Ian Tremblin  adds on to the creepiness of Daemon Hall. He almost knows that something will happen and that the house will do something. It's almost like he has been in the house many times. Even if that is the case. Daemon Hall could definitely have you in one sleepless night.

Authors Note: I have made this post for a book I'm reading for a group in the Lit Group with Carson and Mathew. We all had to write a Literary Analysis about the book Daemon Hall. So far we've gotten through about half the book and started writing posts. I have tried to put in the symbolism of the book. I have also been working on connections with the book. 

Don't scary stories just get your heart pumping. They fill your body with adrenaline and excitement while you're still as scared as a mouse. Sometimes there's death involved and other times there's ghosts and witches. Scary stories are great for Halloween and Daemon Hall.

Andrew Nance showed a great deal of horrific stories to add to this novel  including a poem about too much TV and a bus driver who gets her just deserts. While horror is one of my favorite types of literature, this book is one to give you a fright. Nance uses lots of weird symbolism in this book such as a haunted house as the placement of the house. Also, the haunted house has no light except for a candle holder with nine small candles. Thinking of barely any light in a house while it's dark and stormy definitely gives me the chills. Daemon Hall has been known for disappearing tourists that come day in and day out for its fascinating structure and artwork. This had been a perfect place for a horror writing contest.

A bunch of kids from Maple Wood  were brought into a haunted house for the chance of a lifetime. Each of them wrote a short story that would be evaluated by a famous horror author, Ian Tremblin. The winner's piece would published and the losers would die in some kind of ironic accident. These kids all had a strange perspective to themselves. The five kids were named Chelsea, Demarius, Chris, Wade, and  Kara. Wade is the main perspective character who loves horror just like Chris and Demarius. However, Kara hates horror stories and would rather eat grass than watch Paranormal Activity. She was put up to this contest with a poem written about her brother who watches too much TV. Her brother then took the poem and put it in the contest behind Kara's back. Kara's wanted to go home since she had gotten to Daemon Hall. Then Chelsea is a Goth girl who loves death as much as kids like ice cream. She doesn't show emotion but at the same time shows her inner scariness. These students might be a weird bunch but they're not as creepy as Daemon Hall.

Daemon Hall is one heck of a haunted house with twists and turns in every square inch of a place. The kids in this story remind me of another book called 'The Hunger Games'. This book also has a bunch of kids that fight to the death with only one winner. Both books are very ironic and weird at the same time. So far in this book I think people will start to die, but with some of the weirdest things happening. Who knows what will happen next?
