As I was just waking up on a usual Wednesday morning. I pulled on some pants, shirt and socks. Once I closed the door to my room, I walked over to the TV and carefully slid the remote out of my roommate Doug's hand, to turn on the TV. Doug was passed out on the couch from parting last night. Him and I were in Texas A&M College looking for a Bachelors Degree and a descent job. I didn't have to be at class till 9:00 A:M, so I had plenty of time to relax. When I flipped the switch on the remote the news popped up. "Typical weather in Texas right now. Highs around eighty degrees and sunny." the weather man said. I switched through some channels I liked to watch in the morning. ESPN nothing, MTV boring, Discovery Channel commercials.
"I didn't really need to watch TV anyway, I thought to myself. I could play Call of Duty, yeah why not." So then I did. I turned on my Xbox 360 to play Black Ops. I picked up my favorite controller. It was a red and black controller with a skull as the menu button. When the home screen popped up I clicked on Multiplayer, then I checked to see if any of my friends were online. I wasn't surprised to see my best friend on, Eli. He had gone all the way to Florida State to become a doctor. Eli had spent almost all his free time on Call of Duty. I joined his game to play with him. Why'll the game was loading, I grabbed my mic to talk to him.
"Eli whats up, oh wait I know. you've been on Black Ops all of the time haven't you?" I asked.
"Hey man how are you doing, I heard over on Facebook that you had a party last night."
"Yep, it was awesome, Doug is still passed out on the couch from last night," I replied.
"Nice, hey have you heard of the new game on this website called www.tilltheend.com, it has only one game. It's called The Crazy Maze Challenge. It only has two levels. The first one is super easy, but the second one is very hard. It took about 4 hours till I finished it. If you finish the game you get to enter you're name in for a drawing to win $100,000. you should try."
"Okay I will after this match of Team Deathmatch." I said. Me and Eli were on the same team to begin with. The entire time we were playing I was thinking about the maze game thing. After the match you could see how me and Eli did. Eli was in first place because he was always the better out of the two of us. But I was in second because I spent plenty of time online.
After me and him said our goodbyes I turned off the Xbox and headed toward the computer. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Doug was eating some waffles in his underwear. Doug still looked half asleep, but at least he had some breakfast unlike myself. When I walked over to the computer, I saw many posts on Facebook. Although I love reading posts by my friends, I wanted to see what that game Eli was talking about. When my homepage loaded I typed in tilltheend.com. It popped up as I colorful page with the Maze Game already loading. It took less than 20 seconds to load the game. I clicked on Help to figure out all the directions. After reading, I found out all you need to do is use the arrow buttons and space bar to move and jump. You had to stay on the white lines and stay away from the black lines. "Seemed simple enough," I thought to myself thinking about all the money I could be able to win. When I clicked on the Play button, it brought me to level one. The player I used was white like the lines. I only had to hop over one black line. the first level was done in less than five seconds. Piece of cake. The next level, looked a little harder. There were no black lines and only white lines. So I started walking towards the finish flag. The strange thing was that the backround color was black, because the last one was red. "Weird," I said out loud. I pressed the right arrow key, but died right away. The level started again. "It was probably just a glitch in the game," at least that's what it seemed like. But it wasn't. I kept trying but I couldn't do it. "Maybe you could crouch under it. So I pressed and held the down key and scrolled right. It worked, but not for that long. I crawled for about a second, till I died. I started over, and this time I could stand up after crawling a little. I could make it a little bit each time I went through. But I was really getting frustrated about it. It was making a child eat vegetables.
I was really starting to get hungry but my eyes were locked onto the computer screen. For some reason I couldn't beat this dumb game, but I was determined not to quit. I hadn't looked at the clock the entire time I played it. I thought it was about 8:00 because it didn't seem like I played for to long. For as long as I had played though, it seemed like my player didn't get much farther. When I crawled under the black line you had to jump twice to get over another black line, but that was as far as I had gotten. My eyes were starting to crunch up and stinging from the sweat pouring off my head and into my face. I kept thinking to myself how Eli managed to beat this stupidly, messed up, impossible game. When my eyes stung so bad I decided to stop looking at the computer screen and look around the room. I saw Doug getting dressed for school in his blue jeans and Texas shirt. I was wondering why he was getting his clothes on so early.
"You know man, it's almost nine and your not even dressed yet. You'll be late for school." Doug said.
"Yeah right, I have plenty of time,"
"Alright, fine. But what are you doing on the computer? Playing a game or something."
"Yeah, it's this game Eli told me about called The Crazy Maze Game or something like that. It's super hard, and addicting."
"What's so good about that game."
"If you beat this game, you enter your name in a chance to win one hundred million smackeros."
"Well, even if you do win that game. You'd never win the jackpot."
"Well, then if I win you'll be sorry because I am not giving you one dollar." I said back to him.
"Anyways, are you going to school today or not?"
"No, because I must finish this game, no matter what."
"Why did you promise yourself you would finish the game?"
"Maybe, why do you care."
"Whatever I'm leaving."
And that was the last I saw of Doug for the rest of the day.
"Well now that that's over with, back to the game." I said out loud. I played for a little while longer till I fell asleep.
I woke up with my head on the keyboard of the computer. My game still sitting there, like paint on a wall. I saw Doug sitting back on the couch watching TV. I just went back to the game, starving for food and the finish line of this game. I played for a lot longer that day. It was dark outside, so I decided to fall asleep once more. When I awoke it was early morning. Right away I played the game, still stuck in the same place as yesterday, stuck and frustrated. But if it gave me a ton of money, it was worth it.
Today was Sunday, I was still stuck in the same place as before. I was as hungry as an elephant, and as mad as the devil, but I needed to finish this game. I haven't gone to class since last Tuesday. I was starting to loose energy, and had a major headache. Doug said the teacher was mad I was skipping school but frankly I didn't give a rats tail about it. I was starting to loose fission in one of my eyes. I kept having this weird feeling in my chest, but probably cause I hadn't eaten in awhile. I started to loose power in my arms and legs. I couldn't move anywhere. I didn't know what was happening. My headache took over my body. It hurt so bad it felt like my head would blow off. Soon enough I fell off the desk chair and on to the floor. I couldn't get back up, I knew I needed to get to that computer. Finally, my head was hurting so bad I just closed my eyes, to wake up from this horrible nightmare. But when I closed my eyes and fell asleep, I never woke up.
